Jonas Hellborg will grace southern Germany on the 20. Nov. with a solo recital in the town of Mühldorf.
The show, under the name Masters of Bass, is promoted by bassist , inventor and teacher Claus Freudenstein. 

Jonas rejoins Buschwerk for another tour of Germany.
This time Herman Khatan's percussion group is shaping the music around the concept of Trance. In addition to Jonas Hellborg, the featured guests are Famadou Konaté (Guinea), Nippy Noya (Indonesia) and Baba Sissoko (Mali).
Seven German cities wil be hit by the German percussion group with their unique groove:

On the 26th August Jonas played with long time buddy and genius keyboardist Aydin Essen and Indian drummer Ranjit Barot in Istanbul. On the picturesque location of the Archaeology Museum inside the Topkapi Palace, the three musicians astonished the public and themselves with almost two hours entirely improvised recital, as part of the Turkish festival "Jazz in Ramadan".

On the 20th of May Jonas will play a solo recital in Mannheim. German classic-guitar player Johannes Tonio Kreusch will be sharing the musical evening in Altefeuerwache. This is part of Claus Boesser-Ferrari's yearly Global Strings Festival. Jonas is in the process of remastering his early 90's solo bass record "The Silent Life". This concert will be a revisit of some of the music from that CD.

Unfortunately the tourdates had to be cancelled!

Due to the current situation created by the restricted/cancelled flights, Jonas is still in Shanghai - until next week. It's unpredictable how things will develop - the flights have been cancelled. This makes it impossible for the musicians to meet in advance for rehearsals/tour preparations.

In support of forthcoming record “Jazz Raj”, Hellborg will hit the road in Germany with compadres, guitarist IA Eklundh and drummer Ranjit Barot.
Eklundh is well known to guitar aficionados around world and his fan base includes guitar heroes like Steve Lukather and Steve Vai. Ranjit Barot is one of the most prominent composers in the world of Bollywood who also happens to be one of the greatest drummers in the world with credits like John McLaughlin, Charlie Mariano and Don Cherry.
The group continues the tradition of Bass, Guitar and Drums trio that Hellborg established with eminent sidemen such as Shawn Lane, Buckethead, Mike Shrieve, Jeff Sipe, Danny Gottlieb, Joe Satriani, Ginger Baker, and the list goes on.
Expect further dimensions in tonality and time.

The Warwick Music Family had a grand party at the Musikmesse between the 24th and 27th of March. Incredible Jams everyday and big party at the club Sinkkasten on the night of the 25th. Bootsy was there, and TM, John B, Ryan Martinie, Jean Paul Bourelly, Earl Slick, Hansford Rowe, Jordi Torrens, Reeves Gabrels, Divinity Roxx, Mordy Ferber, and Jonas band mates Selvaganesh, Ranjit Barot and IA Eklundh. And that was just the performers. All the rest of the crew led by powerhouse HP Wilfer with family and colleagues and friends made it the most happening Messe ever.

You will catch Jonas on the cover of the new issue of the online bass mag “Bass Musician Magazine”. Jake Kot did a fine job of introducing and interviewing (click on the pic above to see the article in a new link). A nice addition to the collection of online interviews with mr. Hellborg.

Jonas took the opportunity to pass by Bootsy’s House when he had something to take care of in the neighborhood. The two veteran Bass Players discussed instruments, amps and memories of happenings and friends in common. And Jonas agreed to a request by Bootsy to contribute some playing to the Funkmeisters next oeuvre.

The NAMM show just happened. Jonas joined several bass giants to support Warwick for a big party at the booth. Bootsy Collins was there, as was TM Stevens, Ryan Martinie, Steve Bailey, Lee Sklar, Steve Di Giorgio,  John B Williams and many more... Good times were had, lots of fabulous dinners eaten, and inspired Jams and discussions took place.
